The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program provides funded, intensive eight-week summer study abroad opportunities for American undergraduate and graduate students in nine languages critical to U.S. security and prosperity. Since 2006, as part of the interagency National Security Language Initiative, the CLS Program has supported more than 10,000 U.S. participants to learn languages of strategic importance.
